According to AFP, President Zelensky condemned the killing as a "horrific murder", and police said the victim was showered with bullets. He cited information from police in the incident and said the victim was showered with bullets. Maksim Kozitsky, head of the Lviv regional administration, also confirmed that efforts to save Parubiy failed. Know who Andrey Parubiy was?

Andriy Parubiy was a well-known name in Ukraine's political scene. Born in 1971, Parubiy played an important role as the country's parliament speaker in the 2010s. He was the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada (Ukraine's parliament) from 2016 to 2019. Apart from this, he was also the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) in 2014. Parubiy was one of the key organizers of the Maidan Revolution (2013-2014), where he led the Maidan self-defense unit. He also actively participated in the 2004 Orange Revolution.

He was an MP from the "European Solidarity" party and was considered a strong supporter of Ukraine's independence and Western integration. His murder has caused a wave of concern in political circles, as it seems to be another example of political violence in war-torn Ukraine. Former President Petro Porozhenko called it a "murder by demons" and said that it is a bullet to the heart of Ukraine.

What came out in the initial police investigation?

Initial police investigations revealed that the attacker arrived on an electric bike disguised as a courier and fled. Seven empty cartridges were found at the scene. The murder may be linked to Ukraine's internal political tensions or external threats, especially in the midst of the Russia-Ukraine war. Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi appealed to journalists not to make additional comments and let law enforcement agencies work. The Zelensky government has promised that the culprits will be punished, but this incident is raising questions about Ukraine's security system.
