Quetta: An arrest warrant has been issued against Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in his own country. This warrant has been issued by the exiled government of Pakistan-occupied Balochistan.
According to the warant, Shahbaz Sharif has been accused of violating Balochistan's visa rules. He is also accused of causing serious and deliberate harm to the sovereignty of Balochistan. The arrest warrant against Shahbaz Sharif was announced by Baloch leader Mir Yar Baloch. He advocates for Balochistan's independence on social media and criticizes Pakistan's civil and military administration.
In a post on X, he wrote, "The Republic of Balochistan has issued an arrest warrant against the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shahbaz Sharif, for violating Balochistan's visa regulations. The Prime Minister of Pakistan is entitled to arrest by the Republic of Balochistan for serious and deliberate violations of Balochistan's sovereignty, including illegal entry without a valid visa. Such arrest can be carried out upon arrival at any airport or exit point within Balochistan, in accordance with the laws and sovereign rights of Balochistan."
Mir Yar Baloch further wrote, "The Republic of Balochistan hereby issues an arrest warrant against the Prime Minister of neighboring Pakistan, Shahbaz Sharif, for his illegal entry into the territory of Balochistan without a valid visa or legal permission. This act is a gross violation of Balochistan's territorial integrity and an unlawful violation of its airspace. The Republic of Balochistan condemns this act in the strongest and clearest terms."
Mir Yar Baloch described Balochistan as an independent nation illegally occupied from Pakistan.
"Balochistan is a separate, sovereign, and independent state. No person, regardless of rank, position, or status, including the Prime Minister of Pakistan, is exempt from Balochistan's immigration laws. Entering Balochistan without proper legal documents and an officially approved visa is a criminal offense under Balochistan law," he wrote.
"As a sovereign nation, the Republic of Balochistan fully reserves and asserts its inherent right to detain and arrest Shahbaz Sharif at Quetta International Airport or any other entry or exit point within its jurisdiction. This declaration is also a final and formal warning to the Pakistani Prime Minister, the Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, and all Pakistani officials and citizens. No future entry into Balochistan without prior visa approval issued by the Republic of Balochistan will be tolerated," he added.
"Any Pakistani citizen who attempts to enter Balochistan without a valid Balochistan visa or official immigration clearance, and is caught, will face prosecution and punishment in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Balochistan and may be forcibly deported to Pakistan,” he said.
“The Republic of Balochistan further warns the State of Pakistan to abide by and respect international law, diplomatic norms, and universally recognized principles of sovereignty," Baloch added.
"Under international practice, entry into any sovereign country requires a duly approved visa issued by that country's immigration authorities. The same rule applies to entry into Balochistan, without exception. No person will be permitted to enter the Republic of Balochistan by land, sea, or air without prior visa approval and full compliance with Balochistan's immigration regulations. Any violation will be considered a direct challenge to Balochistan's sovereignty and will be dealt with accordingly," Mir Yar Baloch concluded.
