Dhaka: Another incident of violence targeting the Hindu community has come to light in Bangladesh. A Hindu youth working in a grocery store was murdered with sharp weapons in Narsingdi district. This is said to be the second such incident in the last 24 hours, which has once again raised questions regarding the safety of the minority community.

What happened to Mouni Chakraborty?

According to reports, Moni Chakraborty was attacked in Narsingdi district around 10 pm on Monday night. The attackers attacked him with sharp weapons, due to which he was seriously injured. He later died during treatment. At present the police are investigating the matter, but no concrete information has come to light yet regarding the reason for the attack.

Is this the first such incident?

Earlier on January 3, 50-year-old Khokan Chandra Das was brutally murdered. It was told that first they were attacked, then they were cut, and later they were set on fire. This incident had created an atmosphere of fear and anger in the area.

What events came to light in December?

On December 24, a Hindu man named Amrit Mandal was beaten to death in Pangsha upazila of Rajbari town. The allegation was that he was allegedly being extorted. Earlier on December 18, 25-year-old Dipu Chandra Das was surrounded by a mob in Mymensingh city on alleged blasphemy charges. The mob beat him to death and later set his body on fire.

Are murders alone a cause for concern?

Incidents of violence are not limited to murders alone. On December 23, the house of migrant laborers Shukh Shil and Anil Shil, working in Qatar, was set on fire by unidentified people in Raujan on the outskirts of Chittagong. It was fortunate that the people present in the house came out in time and no one died.

Are increasing incidents a sign of greater danger?
