International News: British political commentator and author David Vance has issued a sharp condemnation of recent nuclear threats made by Pakistani Army Chief General Asim Munir against India. In a conversation with ANI, Vance described Munir’s remarks as “extremely reprehensible and shameful,” warning that such provocative statements are dangerous and unacceptable in international discourse.
“These kinds of comments about attacking India and engaging in a nuclear exchange are nothing short of madness,” Vance said. “No leader should be allowed to make such threats, especially given the catastrophic consequences they imply.”
Vance went further, urging the United States to take decisive action against Pakistan. He suggested that Washington should consider suspending diplomatic relations until Pakistan “begins to act like a civilized nation,” something he claims the country has failed to do for many years.
The commentator expressed disappointment over the US government’s muted reaction to Munir’s statements. “Washington should have issued a far stronger response,” he said. “Allowing such remarks to be made from American soil sends the wrong message and could even be perceived as a deliberate insult.” Vance also questioned why successive US administrations continue to tolerate Pakistan’s rhetoric on such sensitive security issues.
Vance’s criticism follows reported statements by General Munir during his visit to Florida, where he allegedly declared that Pakistan could use nuclear weapons to “destroy India and half the world” if its national survival were threatened. The remarks have drawn widespread attention due to their inflammatory nature and the history of tense relations between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) responded firmly to the alleged remarks, reiterating that the country will not bow to nuclear threats. “It is Pakistan’s habit to brandish nuclear weapons,” the MEA said in an official statement. “We regret that such remarks were made from the soil of a friendly country. India will continue to take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty and national security.”
The ministry emphasized that India’s defense policy remains focused on deterrence and preparedness, ensuring that any threat to its security will be met with a proportionate and decisive response.
Vance’s remarks add to the growing chorus of voices calling for greater accountability in Pakistan’s military and political leadership. His statements highlight broader concerns that unchecked nuclear rhetoric could destabilize an already volatile region, underscoring the need for both diplomatic pressure and international condemnation.
