Tehran: Has Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei shifted from Tehran to Beijing? Speculation regarding this has arisen due to the flight of Russia's secure Tu-214PU aircraft from Tehran to Beijing. In fact, on Monday, the Tu-214PU was dispatched from Moscow to Tehran on the instructions of the Russian President.
A few hours later, the plane arrived in Beijing, the Chinese capital, from Tehran; this information was provided by Flightradar24.
The Tu-214PU is considered Russia's most secure aircraft. It is impossible to gather data on the plane via signals while it is in flight, and it cannot be easily shot down by a missile attack.
1. According to US President Donald Trump, Mojtaba Khamenei has suffered severe physical deterioration, with his body reportedly 90 percent incapacitated. Mojtaba was targeted in a joint US-Israel attack in February 2026. Since then, he has not been seen in the media.
Earlier this month, Mojtaba's father, Ali Khamenei, was laid to rest in Mashhad. Mojtaba was not seen on that occasion either; he has been underground for a long time.
2. The Kuwaiti newspaper 'Al-Jarida' published a report in March 2026 stating that Mojtaba Khamenei had initially been taken to Moscow for medical treatment. There has been no news regarding his health since then. Currently, Moscow itself is unsafe, facing continuous attacks from Ukraine.
China is considered a safe haven for Mojtaba at this time. Furthermore, extracting data from China is difficult for anyone. This is why speculation about Mojtaba moving to China is intensifying.
3. Conflict has erupted once again between Iran and the United States. Iran is aware that Israeli and American intelligence agents could eventually locate its Supreme Leader. This is cited as a key reason behind the relocation. However, Iran has not issued an official statement regarding Mojtaba or the Russian plane.
4. China is a close and trusted ally of Iran. Amidst recent tensions with the United States, China has provided economic assistance to Iran. Furthermore, Beijing has exported components to Tehran for weapons manufacturing.
