Beijing: Shocking information has come to light after US President Donald Trump's recent visit to China. According to reports, the US officials and media team accompanying Trump threw away their used burner phones, badges and many items given by China before leaving Beijing. This step was taken just before boarding Air Force One.
Burner phones are temporary mobile devices that contain little or no personal data. These are especially used when traveling to sensitive countries to reduce the risk of cyber espionage or data theft. According to the report, the Trump administration had given separate phone and email accounts to officials for their trip to China.
American agencies have been accusing China of cyber espionage for a long time. For this reason, the Trump team were advised not to use their personal phones and laptops. Even some devices were kept in special security bags in Air Force One so that no signal or hacking was possible.
According to reports, American officials were instructed not to bring any goods obtained from China on the plane. This included press badges, pins, electronic devices and even makeshift phones. Media reports claimed that warnings like “Nothing from China allowed on the plane” were also given.
Experts believe that the US administration feared that electronic goods received from China might contain surveillance technology or tracking systems. For this reason, all temporary devices were destroyed or thrown away as soon as the trip was over so that the US government network could remain secure.
A big meeting took place in Beijing in which US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping sat face to face. There were talks between the two leaders on major issues like trade, Taiwan, Iran war and technology. This meeting seemed normal but it made one more thing clear that the distrust that has been going on between America and China for years still remains as deep.
