US Tariff War:  US President Donald Trump on Friday wrote a cryptic post on his social media platform Truth Social expressing his diminishing hopes for a trade deal with India. Sharing a picture of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Chinese President Xi Jinping, he wrote, 'It seems we have lost India and Russia to the deepest and darkest China, may their future be long and prosperous.'

Meanwhile, the Foreign Ministry has refused to comment on Trump's post. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, 'At present, I have nothing to comment on this post.'

Trump had said, 'This caused Russia to lose thousands of dollars and you say no action was taken? Then I have not yet implemented Phase 2 and Phase 3... Two weeks ago I said that if India continues to buy oil from Russia, it will be in big trouble and that is why this is happening.

India offered zero tariff

Earlier, Trump had claimed that India had offered zero tariff to the US. In a radio program, Trump had said, "China hits us with tariff, India and Brazil also do, but I understand tariff better than them. I understand tariff more than anyone else in the world. India is the country that imposes the highest tariff in the world. There would be no tariff if there was no tariff on us, but they never gave us this offer. Therefore, you will also be charged tariff."

50% tariff imposed on India

US President Donald Trump’s decision to impose a 50% tariff on India has stirred a storm both at home and abroad. Critics argue that this move will hurt American businesses as much as Indian exporters. A lower court has already struck down the tariff, declaring it illegal under existing trade laws. The case has now reached the US Supreme Court, where the final outcome could reshape future trade relations. Experts warn this decision might push India and Russia closer to China, affecting global economic balance. Meanwhile, India is carefully watching the developments without aggressive reactions. Trump, however, remains adamant, insisting the tariff is essential to protect American industries.
