International News: During the weekly press briefing of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in New Delhi on Thursday, he said that there is a continuous dialogue between India and America on issues related to trade. He clarified that the dialogue on these subjects between the two countries is not going on intermittently but regularly.

Along with this, the media questioned Donald Trump on his post in which he mentioned India, Russia and China. On this, spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal clearly refused to comment. But he definitely said that India-US relations are very important for India and there is continuous dialogue and cooperation on many fronts.

'No comment' on Trump's remarks

Donald Trump recently posted on a social media platform saying, "It seems we have handed over India and Russia to China. Wish them a long and prosperous future." This statement came a few days after the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, which was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin. On this, the MEA spokesperson said, "I have no comment on this post at this time."

Importance of India-US relations

Randhir Jaiswal made it clear that the relationship between India and America is very important. He said that this relationship is based on shared democratic values, mutual interests and deep relations between people. Both the countries have faced many challenges from time to time, but the partnership has become stronger. Referring to recent events, he said that joint military exercises of India and America are going on in Alaska and 2 + 2 talks were also held a few days ago.

Trade, Quad and Diplomacy

On questions related to trade, the MEA spokesperson said that India is constantly connected with the US and talks are ongoing. He also described the Quad as a very useful platform, where the four member countries discuss common interests. Jaiswal said that the summit of the Quad is decided by diplomatic talks of the member countries and India plays an active role in it.

India's position on Ukraine conflict

Regarding the Ukraine war, Jaiswal said that India welcomes all recent peace efforts. He expressed hope that all parties will move forward in a constructive manner. India wants the war to end as soon as possible and permanent peace to be established. At the same time, the Indian government also says that India's relations should not be seen from the point of view of any third country.

America's tariff policy and India's stance

According to reports, the US has imposed tariffs of up to 50 per cent on Indian goods and also imposed an additional 25 per cent punitive duty on oil imports from Russia. Trump's statement came in this backdrop, to which India refrained from giving an official response. However, the MEA reiterated that India's international relations have their own independent importance and cannot be seen through the prism of any third country.
