New Delhi: US President Donald Trump has once again reiterated his claim that he had avoided a large-scale conflict and possible war between India and Pakistan. Trump made this comment to the media during a conversation with oil and gas industry leaders at the White House, in which he made bold statements regarding his foreign policy.

What did Trump really say?

Trump said India and Pakistan were moving "very close" to a major conflict or war, in which eight jets were shot down in the air. He claimed that America's action immediately stopped that conflict without the use of nuclear weapons. He said that he did this in “rapid order” and saved the lives of lakhs of people.

Did Trump also mention the Nobel Peace Prize?

Yes. Trump presented himself as an influential figure in the direction of peace and said that he should go down in history to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. He said that if the wars were stopped, then there should be rewards for all of them, but he did not want to show it off.

What did Trump claim about the Pak PM's statement?

Trump also said that the Prime Minister of Pakistan publicly stated that Trump had saved at least ten million lives during the India-Pakistan crisis. He also said this in support of his claims.

Has India confirmed this claim?

India's official response has not acknowledged any such third-party interference. India has said that stability following the India-Pakistan conflict was the result of direct bilateral negotiations and agreements between military officials of the two countries.

What was this “conflict” related to?

Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated after several military confrontations in 2025, and in May the two countries agreed to a ceasefire. There were many diplomatic efforts behind that agreement, in which many countries and mediators played a role, but India described its decisions as the result of two-way negotiations.

How do experts view Trump's claims?

Analysts say that America's talks, pressure, and diplomacy may have provided some help, but direct talks between the two countries and local military-political circumstances have also played an important role in restoring peace. Trump's statement is being described as part of his political agenda, especially when he is highlighting his foreign policy achievements.
