Dhaka: Tension has been continuously increasing in the political environment of Bangladesh for the last few weeks and now it seems to be a big crisis for the responsible government. In that environment, Inquilab Mancha has warned the government of interim Prime Minister Mohammad Yunus that if the accused of the murder of Sharif Usman Hadi are not arrested, it will launch a large-scale movement and try to remove the current administration from power. This threat comes after the same ultimatum that was issued during Hadi's funeral, but no concrete action has been taken yet on his demands.

Who was Osman Hadi and why did his death create such an atmosphere?

Sharif Usman Hadi was rapidly gaining recognition in the youth politics of Bangladesh and was counted among the prominent spokespersons of Inquilab Mancha. He was constantly active in public meetings and political programs. On 12 December, he was shot at during a public event in Dhaka's Paltan area. When his condition became critical, he was first admitted to a hospital in Dhaka, then sent to Singapore for treatment, where he died on 18 December. As soon as this news came out, the situation deteriorated rapidly. Protests broke out in several cities and in some places anger turned violent, further inflaming an already tense political atmosphere.

What clear message did Inquilab Mancha give to the government?

After Hadi's death, Inquilab Mancha has started putting direct pressure on the government. The organization says that if those responsible for the murder are not arrested soon, it will launch a big movement. Giving 24 hours' time, Mancha warned that if necessary, demonstrations will be held across the country, and steps can also be taken that affect public life. This warning was given during the protest in Shahbagh area of Dhaka, where resentment over the government's action came out openly.

How widespread is the impact of the protests across the country?

After Hadi's death, the protests were not limited to Dhaka only. In many other cities too, people took to the streets and demonstrated. There were reports of some media offices and cultural institutions being targeted in the capital. Apart from this, a tense situation was also seen around Indian missions and consulates. There were clashes between police and protesters at many places, after which additional security forces had to be deployed to control the situation.

What impact did this incident have on the government and neighboring countries?

The impact of Hadi's assassination and the subsequent protests is also visible on Bangladesh's diplomatic relations. In view of the situation, Bangladesh temporarily suspended visa services in some cities of India. In response, India also banned the activities of some visa centers linked to Bangladesh. Along with this, the security of the Indian Embassy in Dhaka has been increased. Experts believe that this tension will increase the relations between the two countries.

What are political experts assuming?

Analysts say that the anger generated after Hadi's death and dissatisfaction with the government have changed the political equation inside the country. Units having organized movement capability like Inquilab Mancha are now talking about movement directly against the government, which can become a big challenge for the stability of the government in future. Now it remains to be seen how the government handles this crisis and whether the investigation against the accused is expedited or the matter takes a bigger turn.
