The Iran-Israel war has now entered its seventh day, as of Thursday, 19 June. Both countries continue to launch attacks on each other. In the latest strikes, the Iranian army launched a barrage of missiles at southern Israel last night, targeting a hospital in Beersheba. An Israeli spokesperson reported that Soroka Hospital suffered significant damage in the Iranian assault. According to Israel’s emergency services, at least 65 people have been injured nationwide in these attacks.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that US President Donald Trump has approved a plan to attack Iran. However, he has not yet issued the order specifying when the attack will take place or when the plan will be implemented. The Pentagon—the headquarters of the US Department of Defence—and its officials are closely monitoring the situation in Iran. In preparation, the US has bolstered its defenses and, in coordination with neighboring Muslim countries, has created a Chakravyuh (a strategic encirclement) around Iran.
The US is concerned that if it enters the war against Iran alongside Israel, Tehran could retaliate by targeting American bases in countries near Iran. To prevent such attacks, the US has enhanced its military readiness in Muslim-majority nations surrounding the Islamic Republic.
A report in an Indian newspaper stated that, amid rising tensions, Washington has placed 40,000 soldiers—stationed across various Middle Eastern countries, including the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, and Jordan—on high alert. Another media report added that US officials have identified specific bases in the Middle East that could be potential targets of Iranian retaliation. For context, the US maintains at least 20 military bases in and around the region, many of which lie within the strike range of Iranian ballistic missiles.
American officials fear that if Tehran escalates the conflict, its first targets could be US military bases in Syria, Iraq, and other Arab countries. In anticipation, the US has positioned its forces in key cities near Iranian bases, enabling rapid response and containment of any Iranian offensive. As part of this strategy, the US has reportedly deployed three dozen refueling aircraft to Europe to support fighter jets patrolling and securing these Middle Eastern bases. Additionally, two US cargo ships have been dispatched to the region to enhance logistical support.
