Tehran: Amidst escalating tensions with the United States and Israel, Iran has commenced providing weapons training to its citizens. Iranian state media has shared a video depicting men, women, youth, and teenagers across the country receiving instruction on how to handle light weaponry within local mosques. Iranian state television has characterized this initiative as part of the public's preparedness for national defense—an effort in which over 31 million people have reportedly already registered.
According to Iranian state media, this defensive initiative is directly linked to the "Jan Fida Baraye Iran" (Life Sacrificed for Iran) operation. The primary objective of this campaign is to mobilize the nation's citizens in support of the Islamic Republic, serving as a direct response to the ongoing conflicts with the United States and Israel. Tehran has issued a nationwide call for citizens to register as volunteers in a show of solidarity. State media claims that more than 31 million individuals have already signed up for this campaign.
According to Iranian media reports, the government has transformed mosques into key hubs for training and public preparedness. With the aim of bolstering the nation's defensive readiness, men, women, and teenagers have been gathered in mosques across various cities—including Ahvaz, Kerman, Bijar, Shiraz, and Zahedan—to participate in these programs. Under this specialized campaign, volunteers are receiving both theoretical and practical instruction on handling, disassembling, and reassembling light firearms. In Tehran, local residents are being taught how to handle guns during pro-government nighttime rallies.
Television footage reveals that entire families—including youth and teenagers—are participating enthusiastically in these training sessions. Within the mosques hosting these events, participants are being instructed in self-defense techniques, firearm proficiency, and collective drills. The government maintains that this initiative will heighten public awareness and further bolster social security.
