New Delhi: Iran on Thursday launched missiles towards Israel after US President Donald Trump's ultimatum urging Tehran to halt hostilities and agree to a deal.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in a statement said that the air defences were responding to an Iranian missile attack on Thursday.
Following Donald Trump's address to the American public, the missile launch began
The US President in his first address to the nation since the start of Iran conflict talked about the Middle East war and warned Tehran of being brought to the “Stone Age”.
The Israeli military said in a statement it had "identified missiles launched from Iran toward the territory of the State of Israel" for the third time in just over three hours.
"Defensive systems are operating to intercept the threat," the military added.
According to the military's Home Front Command, air raid sirens sounded across northern Israel and there were no immediate reports of any casualties or damage, as per media reports.
The US named the action Operation Epic Fury, Israel named it 'Operation Roaring Lion'.
Donald Trump while addressing to the nation, after launching strikes on Iran four weeks ago, shared that his core "objectives are nearing completion" in Iran and also said that Tehran will be hit “extremely hard" over the next two to three weeks and will be brought to the "Stone Ages”.
“Thanks to the progress we've made, I can say tonight that we are on track to complete all of America's military objections shortly. Very shortly.
We're going to hit them extremely hard over the next two to three weeks. We're going to bring them back to the Stone Ages, where they belong," Trump said.
While talking about regime change, the US President said that, "we never said regime change, but regime change has occurred because of all of their original leader's death."
"In the meantime, discussions are ongoing. Regime change was not our goal. We never said regime change, but regime change has occurred because of all of their original leaders' death. They're all dead. The new group is less radical and much more reasonable," Trump said.
In his speech, Donald Trump also gave an ultimatum to Iran, saying, "Yet, if during this period of time, no deal is made... if there is no deal, we are going to hit each, and every one of their electric generating plants very hard, and probably simultaneously."
