Tehran: In response to the joint US-Israeli attacks, Iran has intensified retaliation, due to which the entire region has become engulfed in instability. The latest incidents in the first week of April have given a new and dangerous turn to this war.

Is Iran's claim of downing American F-15E fighter plane true?

On April 3, Iranian media and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed that a US F-15E Strike Eagle was downed by their air defense systems over southwestern Iran. Iranian state media released photos and video of the wreckage, which clearly showed parts of the plane's wingtip and vertical stabilizer. International experts, after looking at these photos, confirmed that these parts match those of the F-15E, specifically the 494th Fighter Squadron markings.

Has the situation around the Strait of Hormuz worsened?

It has completely deteriorated. Iran has tightened its control over the region and there are reports of collecting tolls from oil-gas tankers. Iranians claim they also shot down a second American plane near Hormuz. This area is an important route for about 20 percent of the world's oil supply, so global oil prices have already increased significantly due to the increasing unrest here. Military activities from both sides are continuously increasing.

Has Iran warned of new attacks?

Iran has clearly indicated that if America and Israel continue the attacks, important buildings and infrastructure of America's allies will be targeted. IRGC has released a list of eight big bridges especially in the Gulf countries. The warning came after US-Israel targeted the Karaj Bridge near Tehran, killing several people. Iran has also carried out attacks on refineries and other industrial sites in the UAE, Bahrain and Kuwait, in what is being seen as a further warning.

Is there any possibility of ceasefire?

At present there seems to be very little hope. According to Iranian media, America had proposed a 48-hour ceasefire through the mediator country, but Tehran rejected it. Iran has put forward its own five-point counter-proposal, which includes conditions such as compensation for war damages and guarantee against attacks. Both sides are still adamant on their terms, so no immediate agreement is visible.

Is the scope of the conflict increasing?

Now it is not limited to just Iran-America-Israel. Security alerts have been issued in Kuwait, Bahrain and UAE. Refineries, power plants and other targets in these countries have been affected by Iranian attacks. There are also reports of attacks on American bases in the Gulf countries, due to which the entire region is in the grip of war.

Could this conflict take a more serious form?

Experts believe that the situation may worsen in the coming days. There is continuous retaliatory action from both sides. The disruption in oil supply is affecting the global economy. At present, there is no visible path for concrete diplomacy, hence there is a danger of the war prolonging and engulfing the entire region.
