New Delhi: Amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, US President Donald Trump made scathing remarks against Iran. Hours later, a strong reaction emerged from Tehran. Responding on social media, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, stated that America's reckless actions are pushing the entire region toward a major conflict. He warned that Washington's policies could turn into a "living hell" for every family.

Donald Trump had issued a stern statement demanding that Iran open the Strait of Hormuz, a move that has further heightened tensions. Iran asserted that if the US follows in the footsteps of Benjamin Netanyahu, it will be reduced to ashes.

What did Iranian leadership say?

Ghalibaf also alleged that the US is acting under pressure from Benjamin Netanyahu, and this is the very reason why the situation is deteriorating further. He categorically stated that the US stands to gain nothing from a war. Experts believe that the escalating rhetoric between the two nations could steer the region toward a major confrontation, the repercussions of which could be felt globally.

Donald Trump had previously warned Iran that if no agreement is reached by April 6—or if Tehran fails to open the Strait of Hormuz—the US could target its power plants and bridges.

What was Donald Trump's threat against Iran?

Writing on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump posted: "Tuesday will be Power Plant and Bridge Day—everything at once. You’ve never seen anything like it before. Open the Strait of Hormuz, or face the consequences." In a subsequent post, he added: "Tuesday, 8:00 PM (Eastern Time)!"

The Iranian Embassy in Thailand responded to Trump's statement. Writing on the social media platform X, the embassy remarked: "Judging by the kind of language the President is employing, it appears that the United States has reverted to the Stone Age sooner than expected."

Shortly after this statement, in an interview with Fox News, Trump said that if an agreement is not reached, he might consider "destroying everything and seizing the oil." Trump also stated that the Iranian representatives participating in the talks have been granted limited exemptions, but if an agreement is not reached, they will face severe consequences.
