A claim by a top advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has stirred political tension from Tehran to Washington. On July 8, Khamenei’s senior advisor, Mohammad-Javad Larijani, said that Iran could kill Trump while he is sunbathing – and that he wouldn’t even realize it was coming.
The position of the U.S. President is considered the most powerful in the world. So, the question arises: Can Iran really assassinate Trump while he’s sunbathing?
Donald Trump has answered this very question himself. Speaking to journalists at the White House, Trump said, “I never sunbathe, so there’s no chance of that happening.”
He added, “I used to sunbathe in childhood, but ever since then, I’ve never had the time to just sit and enjoy the sun. So, this is not even a possibility.” His response made the White House press corps burst into laughter.
Iranian sleeper cells are active in the United States with the alleged aim of assassinating the American President. Donald Trump himself has made such claims. According to him, Iranian sleeper cells became active during the administrations of Barack Obama and Joe Biden.
Reportedly, Iran’s clerics have launched a fundraising campaign to assassinate Trump, collecting as much as $200 million for the mission. However, killing a U.S. president is not an easy task—for Iran or any other country. Here's why…
The President of the United States is protected by the U.S. Secret Service. The agency employs around 3,200 special agents, 1,300 uniformed officers, and over 2,000 other technical, professional, and administrative staff who handle the entire security apparatus.
Based on intelligence inputs from the CIA and FBI, these Secret Service agents ensure the President’s safety. The White House, where Trump resides, is so heavily guarded that not even a bird can enter undetected. It also houses a secure bunker where the President can be safely taken in case of any emergency.
Special arrangements are also made when the President travels. The Secret Service personally oversees and manages all security protocols during such trips.
