Saudi Arabia: Vijay Kumar Mahato of Giridih, Jharkhand, died after being shot in Saudi Arabia. He was caught in the crossfire between police and criminals. The Indian Embassy is engaged in the process of bringing the body to India.
Vijay Kumar Mahato, 26, of Dumri block of Giridih district of Jharkhand, died after being shot in Saudi Arabia. He was working as a tower line fitter in a private company there. The incident occurred earlier this month, but its details came to light when the Jharkhand Labor Department contacted the Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia to bring the body to India.
According to officials, Vijay was caught in the crossfire between the police and local criminals at that time. It was said that the bullet accidentally hit him and he died on the spot. The Labor Department official said, "We have spoken to the Indian Embassy and Jeddah Police. Now efforts are underway to complete the legal process and bring the body to India."
According to social worker Sikandar Ali, Vijay had sent a voice message to his wife, Basanti Devi, on October 16. In it he had said that he was caught in the crossfire and was injured. The family thought he was undergoing treatment, but on October 24, the company confirmed his death.
family plea
Vijay's family is in bad condition and crying. Social activist Ali has appealed to the state government and the district administration to bring the body to India soon and provide compensation to the poor family. The Labor Department has said that all necessary legal processes are being completed.
The Labor Department has said that the Indian Embassy is in constant touch with the Saudi administration. The body will be sent to India as soon as the legal formalities are completed. At the same time, the family is now hoping for justice and help from the government so that they can get some relief after this painful death in a foreign country.
Vijay's death has once again raised questions on the safety of Indian laborers working in Gulf countries. Every year thousands of youth from Jharkhand, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh go to Gulf countries for employment, but lack of security and legal help still remains a big issue there. Experts say that the government should bring concrete policies to ensure the safety of migrant workers.
