Tel Aviv: The ongoing conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran is escalating toward the elimination of nuclear weapons. Both nations have been making persistent efforts to destroy Iran's stockpile of enriched uranium, yet they have not achieved success in this endeavor thus far. Consequently, the US and Israel have now joined forces to target Iran's remaining nuclear facilities. On Friday, the Israeli Air Force confirmed that it had struck a uranium processing facility located in Yazd, situated in the heart of Iran. Prior to this, Iran's Atomic Energy Organization had also confirmed the attack.
The Israeli military issued a statement providing details regarding the strikes carried out on Friday. The IDF stated, "A short while ago, our Air Force struck a uranium processing facility located in Yazd, in central Iran." The Israeli military described this site as critical to Iran's nuclear program. The military noted that the raw materials necessary for uranium enrichment are extracted at this location.
Following the strike on the uranium processing center, the Israeli military also targeted a heavy water plant located in Arak, Iran. Reporting on the incident, Iranian media stated that the U.S. and Israel had jointly targeted the Khondab complex. In confirming the attack, Israel announced that it had struck a plutonium production facility. The IDF stated, "Just a short while ago, the Air Force targeted the Arak Heavy Water Plant, located in central Iran." It is worth noting that plutonium is considered a critical component of nuclear weapons.
This is not the first time that Israel and the United States have launched attacks aimed at dismantling Iran's nuclear program. Previously, Iran's key nuclear facility at Natanz was also subjected to an attack. Enraged by this, Iran targeted the covert nuclear facility located in Dimona, Israel. Subsequently, the IRGC issued a statement characterizing this action as retaliation for the attack on Natanz. Following the extensive damage inflicted during that incident, the United States and Israel had refrained from targeting Iran's energy infrastructure. However, Israel has now once again targeted Iran's nuclear sites.
Iran's Foreign Minister accused Israel and the United States of attacking two of Iran's largest steel factories. He wrote, "Israel has targeted two of Iran's largest steel factories, a power plant, and civilian nuclear sites. Israel claims to have carried out this attack in coordination with the United States. This attack runs counter to the deadline extended through the U.S. President's diplomatic efforts. Israel will pay a heavy price for its crimes."
According to Iranian media reports, this airstrike—conducted by Israel—targeted the Khuzestan Steel Plant in Ahvaz and the Mobarakeh Steel Plant, located near Isfahan. Notably, Mobarakeh is Iran's largest steel company.
