International News: Israel’s conflict with regional adversaries has entered another phase. While Hamas and Hezbollah have faced heavy blows and senior Iranian officials have been killed in targeted strikes, Yemen’s Houthi movement continues to defy Israeli pressure. Despite multiple air raids carried out jointly by Israel and the United States, the Houthis are still launching missiles toward Israeli territory.
Israeli media outlet Walla revealed that a recent attempt to assassinate Major General Mohammad Abdul Karim al-Ghamari, Chief of Staff of the Yemeni Armed Forces, did not succeed. The report, citing unnamed security officials, noted that the operation was planned to remove one of the Houthis’ most influential military leaders. Al-Ghamari, however, survived the strike. He was also targeted previously during Israel’s brief but intense clash with Iran, when the Israeli Air Force tried to eliminate him.
According to Mehr News of Iran, both the Israeli military and the intelligence agency Mossad are preparing a new task force. This unit will focus on pinpointing command hubs and leadership circles within the Ansarullah movement — the political and military structure guiding the Houthis. The plan reportedly includes more assassination attempts against high-ranking Houthi officials.
The latest escalation came after a missile was fired from Yemen on August 22. At about 8:50 p.m., Israeli radar picked up the incoming ballistic projectile aimed at the country’s center. Air-raid alarms rang out across Tel Aviv, Lod, Ramat Gan, and nearby areas. While no direct casualties occurred, emergency services said several civilians suffered minor injuries while rushing to shelters.
For Israel, the Houthis remain a persistent and unpredictable adversary. Unlike Hamas or Hezbollah, who have been weakened by sustained operations, the Houthis continue to fire missiles and drones, creating a new front in the already volatile Middle East. Analysts warn that Tel Aviv’s pursuit of Houthi leadership could ignite broader conflict across the region, especially given Tehran’s ties to the Yemeni rebels.
