Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh on Sunday accused the Modi government of bringing a bill that is not meant to fight corruption. He said the law is being used to trap opposition leaders in false cases, topple governments through bribery, and weaken rival parties. Singh also criticized the close ties between Modi and alleged corrupt leaders and said that AAP will not join the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) set up by the central government to discuss the bill.

'Bill Targets Opposition, Not Corruption'

Sanjay Singh said on Sunday that the central government is bringing a bill that is unconstitutional and undemocratic. According to him, the real aim of the bill is to destabilize governments, indulge in bribery, trap opposition leaders in false cases, force resignations, and ultimately destroy democracy. This is why AAP, along with Arvind Kejriwal, has decided not to join the JPC formed by the government to discuss the bill.

Modi and Corrupt Leaders’ Alleged ‘Love’

Sanjay Singh warned that this bill is clearly not against corruption. He said, “The BJP’s love for corrupt people is like Ranjha’s love for Heer, Laila’s love for Majnu, or Romeo’s love for Juliet.” He named several politicians he considers corrupt, including Ajit Pawar, Narayan Rane, Chhagan Bhujbal, Hasan Mushrif, G. Janardhana Reddy, B.S. Yediyurappa, Mukul Roy of the Sharda-Narada scams, Shubhendu Adhikari, and Himanta Biswa Sharma, and questioned which party they belong to today.

Allegations Against PM Modi

Sanjay Singh further claimed that PM Modi openly hands over crores worth of national assets to his friend Gautam Adani. He questioned how this could be considered an anti-corruption stance and said, “Who would believe that this bill is against corruption when your party even takes donations from a company involved in cow slaughter?” He added that the bill’s real purpose is to destroy opposition parties, manipulate MLAs through bribery, topple governments, and imprison opposition leaders. Therefore, AAP and Kejriwal have decided not to participate in the JPC.

AAP’s Stance on the JPC

Sanjay Singh told X (formerly Twitter) that “how can leaders who are allied with corrupt individuals bring an anti-corruption bill?” He emphasized that the bill’s purpose is to trap politicians in false cases and destabilize governments. This is the reason why Arvind Kejriwal and AAP have opted out of the government-formed JPC.
