International News: The New York Times reported on Friday that US Navy SEAL commandos conducted a secret military operation in North Korea in 2019. But due to a mistake made by the commandos, 3 North Korean civilians died and the mission failed. According to NYT, the target of the mission was to install an electronic device in North Korea. So that the US intelligence agency could track Kim's communications and listen to his conversations.
According to NYT, this mission was so risky that it required the direct approval of the President. However, journalists asked Trump questions about this report on Friday. To this, Trump said, 'I don't know anything about it. I am hearing this for the first time.'
According to the report, Navy Seal Commandos had prepared for this mission for months. These commandos were from the same unit that killed Osama bin Laden in 2011. Navy Seal Commandos entered North Korea's waters via a nuclear submarine. From here, they reached close to the coast in two mini-submarines and then swam to the shore. These 8 Seal Commandos had to deceive North Korea's border force and install a communication device.
The American commandos thought they were alone, but they saw a small boat near the shore. The boat reached near the mini-submarines. The crew members in the boat were carrying torches. One of them jumped into the water. The Navy commandos felt that the mission was in danger. After this, the senior commando present on the shore started firing on the boat. The rest of the commandos present with him also did the same.
When the commandos reached the boat, they found 3 bodies. The people on board did not have any guns or uniforms. The boatmen were diving for seafood and shellfish. The American commandos pierced the lungs of the dead bodies with knives so that the bodies would drown. The mission was stopped and the Navy SEAL commandos returned to their submarine.
This operation took place during the nuclear talks between Trump and Kim in 2019. Trump met Kim three times in his first term. The two leaders have not met even once in the second term. Kim has been refusing to stop North Korea's nuclear weapons and missile programs. Trump has recently said that he may meet Kim Jong Un this year.
North Korea never publicly acknowledged the incident. However, military activities increased in that area. The White House refused to comment on this report. Neither has the Pentagon issued any statement on this. NYT says that the Trump administration did not inform important members of Congress about this before or after the mission. Experts say that this may be a violation of federal law.
