America: A strong earthquake was recorded in the sea on Thursday night near the coast of the state of Oregon in America. According to Germany's Geosciences Research Center (GFZ), its intensity was 6.2. The epicenter of the earthquake was under the sea and was reported to be about 10 kilometers below land.
So far, there has been no news of any major damage or injury to anyone. Some people felt mild tremors in the coastal areas, but the situation is said to be normal. Local administration and disaster management teams are continuously monitoring the situation.
After this earthquake, there was concern among people about tsunami, but the US National Tsunami Warning Center made it clear that no tsunami warning has been issued. This means that at present there is no need for the people of coastal areas to panic.
The oceanic area near Oregon and California is part of the Cascadia Subduction Zone. Here two big tectonic plates collide with each other, due to which earthquakes often occur in this area.
Experts say that most earthquakes occur under the sea, so many times people do not even realize them. But when the intensity is high, its tremors can reach the coast.
Local officials and scientists are also keeping an eye on possible aftershocks. However, no other major aftershock has been reported so far.
The administration has appealed to the people not to believe in rumors and pay attention to official information only. If needed, an alert will be issued immediately.
