External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has talked to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Wednesday. Jaishankar shared the conversation details on X. There has been a talk between the two regarding the Pahalgam terror attack. Rubio has also talked to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and taken him to task.
On Wednesday, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar conveyed sadness at the number of casualties caused in the attack at Pahalgam. In a statement, Rubio urged the US to collaborate with Pakistan in lowering tensions and ensuring peace and security in South Asia. While speaking with Sharif, Rubio also emphasized requesting the "unequivocal condemnation" of the Pahalgam attack and requested cooperation of Pakistani authorities for investigation of the attack.
Since the April 22 terror attack on Pahalgam, tensions between India and Pakistan have been increasing. A minimum of 26 individuals lost their lives in the attack. The terrorists began firing after querying individuals about their names and religions. The majority of the fatalities were tourists. Ever since the attack, India is continuously taking action against Pakistan. He abrogated the Indus Water Treaty. Besides this, diplomatic relations were also severed.
