International News: Poland on Wednesday morning temporarily closed its four major airports in view of the threat of drones from Russia. The closed airports include Warsaw Chopin, Warsaw Modlin, Rzeszow–Jasionka, and Lublin. Ukraine had warned that Russian drones were heading towards Poland's Zamosc region.
Poland's Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed that the intruding drone was shot down and the operation is ongoing to eliminate other potential threats. He said that all security agencies are alert and the airspace is being constantly monitored.
Chopin Airport said that flights have been stopped "due to the action of the state and military services." Officials say that alternative arrangements are being worked out for the convenience of passengers.
Poland's Territorial Defense Force cut the reporting time of soldiers. Defense Minister Vladyslav Kosiniak-Kamysh said all military and NATO allies are on standby. The downed drone is being monitored, and information is being gathered.
The US has taken the incident seriously, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio was informed. Polish President Karol Nawrocki is being updated. Experts say this is a sign of Russia's new challenge to Poland and NATO.
There are more than a million Ukrainian refugees in Poland. Civilians have been told not to approach any drone debris and to trust only official information.
