International News: India's defense policy takes a major shift. Questions have now been raised about the Rafale fighter jets purchased from France, as the French company Dassault Aviation has refused to give Rafale's 'source code' to India. This is the reason why India is now preparing to move towards the SU-57 Stealth Fighter Jet in Russia, making a big change in its strategy.
The 'source code' is actually the brain of any high-tech fighter jet or military system. With the help of this code, a country can combine its weapons, radars, missile systems, or communication tools with that fighter jet. The refusal of France means that India can no longer add its indigenous BrahMos missile or electronic warfare system to Rafael - every time, France will have to be obtained. This poses a direct challenge to India's strategic autonomy.
India now aims to shift its defense requirements towards self-reliance and indigenization. Under the 'Make in India' program, India wants fighter aircraft to be manufactured in India, their technology should be with India, and they can be improved as per the need. But France is not ready to cooperate at this level.
The proposals from Russia are very attractive to India. Not only does the SU-57's advanced technology propose to transfer to India, but it is also said that if India agrees, the production of the SU-57 can begin in the same unit of HAL where the SU-30MKI is being made. Supersonic speed, stealth technology and multirole fighter in this fifth generation fighter jet
The same situation was seen earlier also when France refused to help in India's indigenous Cauvery engine project. Then India moved to Russia, and today the Cauvery engine is being successfully tested in the IL-76 aircraft in Russia. This is not just technical cooperation but a matter of faith.
India's national security advisors are in Russia this week, and according to sources, the S-500 air defense system will also be discussed with additional units of the S-400 defense system. Russia consistently considers India as a strategic partner of equality - this relationship is not just a buyer and seller, but one of shared development and technical partnership.
India had recently made a deal to buy 26 Rafale Marine Jets from France, but now this deal is being considered again. The deal can also be canceled if France continues to refuse to give technology.
In today’s global landscape, India seeks not just powerful weapons but full control over their operation and technology. And while France is providing limited technology, Russia is ready to cooperate with open hands. The SU-57 can be not just a fighter jet but the next flight of India's defense sovereignty.
