International News: In a strong reaction to the recent actions by the United States, Russia has taken a bold military decision. It announced that it will no longer follow the old ban on certain types of missiles. These restrictions were part of a decades-old agreement, but now Russia says the deal no longer makes sense.

On Monday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that the original reasons for keeping the ban have now disappeared. Therefore, it does not feel bound by that restriction anymore.

US Submarines Trigger Russia’s Response

This change from Russia comes after an order from US President Donald Trump, in which he directed two American nuclear submarines to move close to Russian waters. Russia saw this as a direct threat. In response, it decided to lift the limits on deploying short- and medium-range missiles.

A Cold War Treaty Ends

Back in 1987, during the Cold War, the US and the Soviet Union signed a major agreement known as the INF Treaty (Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty). Under this deal, both nations had agreed not to build or place ground-based missiles with ranges between 500 to 5,500 kilometers.

The US left this agreement in 2019, but Russia had continued to follow it—until now. With current tensions rising, Russia has finally withdrawn from the deal as well.

Russia Upset with U.S. Strategy

Russia stated that it had warned the US several times before. It claimed that its missile ban was based on the condition that the US would also respect the agreement. Now that America is making aggressive military moves, Russia feels it has no choice but to take similar actions.

What Lies Ahead? A Risk of Conflict

This situation could push the world into more serious tensions. The system that once kept nuclear power in check is now falling apart. With both countries returning to Cold War-era tactics, the global balance could shift. It is still unclear who will take the lead or how far this confrontation will go, but many fear it could lead to greater instability in the world.
