Washington: Two people were killed and at least five others were injured, including a child, in a shooting near Seattle’s Space Needle on Sunday evening during a poplar food festival, a city Fire Department said.
According to reports, two people were killed and five others were injured in the firing that took place during a food festival at an event complex near the Space Needle in Seattle on Sunday evening.
The fire department said two people were pronounced dead at the scene after life-saving efforts failed.
The gunfire erupted around 6 pm at the Seattle Center during the Bite of Seattle festival.
The shooting reportedly occurred around 6 pm US time during the 'Bite of Seattle' festival at Seattle Center. Harborview Medical Center spokeswoman Susan Gregg said that five patients were hospitalised, including a 56-year-old woman in serious condition.
A two-year-old boy, a 23-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman are in stable condition, while a 40-year-old woman had minor injuries, the hospital said.
Taking to X, the Seattle Police Department said that it was investigating a shooting with multiple victims at the Seattle Center, and also urged people to avoid the area.
A video of the incident has also surfaced on social media, showing gunshots being heard in a crowded area and the ensuing chaos.
