Trump Celebrated Diwali in White House: US President Donald Trump celebrated Diwali at the White House on Tuesday (local time). On this occasion, he extended his warm greetings to the people of India and the Indian-American community.

Praised PM Modi profusely

During the program, Trump praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling him a “great person” and a “great friend.” He said that he had a conversation with Modi today himself, which was very good. The two leaders discussed trade and regional peace.

Big things said about India-Pakistan

Trump said, "We talked about that there should be no war between India and Pakistan. It is a great thing that there is peace between the two countries. We also discussed trade, because Modi is very interested in it."

“Victory of light over darkness”—Trump”

Speaking on the significance of Diwali, Trump said, "In a few moments we will light a lamp, which symbolizes the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil." He said the flame of the lamp reminds us to “walk the path of knowledge, work hard, and be grateful for our blessings.”

Officers of Indian origin were also present

Many Indian-origin officials of the Trump administration participated in this ceremony. Among them, FBI Director Kash Patel, ODNI Director Tulsi Gabbard, White House Deputy Press Secretary Kush Desai, Indian Ambassador to the US Vinay Mohan Kwatra, and US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore were present.
