U.S. President Donald Trump appears to be preparing for devastation in Russia. Furious with Putin, Trump has started sending weapons to Ukraine for self-defence. Following talks between the two leaders, this move by the U.S. reflects Trump’s anger toward Putin. It is believed that Trump is so enraged with Putin that, if needed, he could directly enter the war against Russia—just like the U.S. did with Iran.
Trump had recently refused to send weapons to Ukraine. The official reason cited was concern over depleting weapon stockpiles, although that is not entirely accurate. According to a report published in Axios, quoting Trump’s close aides, Trump believes this is not America’s war—however, if the U.S. resumes sending weapons to Ukraine, it could soon become its own conflict.
The U.S. recently got involved in the Iran-Israel conflict, even dropping bunker-buster bombs on Iran’s nuclear facilities. Later, it helped broker a ceasefire between the two nations. It is said that Trump was hesitant about using military force during the bombings on Iran but eventually overcame that hesitation. Now, Trump’s advisors believe he may take a similarly significant step regarding the war in Ukraine.
Following multiple discussions with his advisors, President Trump has made the decision to provide Ukraine with essential military weapons. This is notable because the Trump administration had recently halted a shipment of weapons, including Patriot missile interceptors. Now, the critical shipment is on its way to Ukraine. Meanwhile, Trump is also exploring alternative solutions, including pressuring Germany to send its own Patriot missile batteries.
After speaking with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday, Trump said that the U.S. would send weapons to Ukraine. These would be defensive weapons, and Ukraine must defend itself. Shortly after this, the Pentagon announced that additional defensive arms would be sent to Ukraine to ensure that Ukrainians can protect themselves.
Trump’s frustration is believed to be the key reason behind his decision to supply weapons to Ukraine. Recently, Trump had a conversation with Putin, during which Putin expressed willingness to talk but also declared that Russia would not stop until its objectives were achieved. Just a day later, Russia launched a massive attack on Kyiv. This enraged Trump.
On the other hand, Trump also had a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, which is being described as the best conversation yet between the two leaders. During this call, Trump told Zelenskyy that he wants to help Ukraine with air defence. The U.S. has now pledged to immediately send 10 Patriot missile interceptors.
