Trump warns Hamas: US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that Hamas will have to hand over its weapons under the terms of the recent peace deal. He warned that if Hamas did not commit suicide, the US and its partners would confiscate those weapons. Trump made this statement after meeting Argentinian President Javier Milei at the White House.
Trump also said that his aim is to bring back those killed and held hostage in Gaza. He described the peace deal as a new beginning for the Middle East and said it is the end of an era of chaos, terror, and destruction. He said that if Hamas does not keep its promise, decisive action will be taken.
The president's statement further clarified the agreement's central terms—the demilitarization of Gaza and the disarmament of Hamas. Trump also added that the purpose of the plan is to ensure Israel's security and bring lasting peace to the region. He said many regional powers have supported the plan and termed it a historic opportunity.
Trump's smile-filled speech coincided with his first address to the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, in which he described the ceasefire and peace deal as a sign of a major change. He repeatedly said that they were not playing 'games' and that the US would take active action if necessary.
Trump demanded Hamas surrender weapons and Gaza's disarmament, threatened seizures and tougher measures if it did not comply, and described the peace deal as decisive toward regional transformation.
