Washington: An important turning point has emerged amid the ongoing tension between America and Iran. US President Donald Trump has decided to extend the existing ceasefire. He told through a social media post that after the appeal of Pakistan's Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, the attacks have been stopped for the time being so that the Iranian government can work on a joint proposal.
Trump made it clear in his statement that this decision has been taken keeping in mind Pakistan's appeal. He indicated that this is a temporary step to reduce tension in the region so that scope for dialogue can be created.
There has been a sharp reaction to this announcement from Iran. Mahdi Mohammadi, advisor to the Parliament Speaker, said the losing side cannot dictate terms. He clearly said that this step of America has no significance for Iran.
Trump said in his statement that Iran's government has been seriously weakened. He claimed that the current situation is in favor of America and military advantage is clearly visible.
Despite extending the ceasefire, Trump has given clear instructions to his military commanders to continue the siege against Iran. He said that the army has been asked to be fully prepared so that immediate action can be taken if needed.
The situation still remains tense on the Strait of Hormuz. America has decided to continue the blockade of Iran's ports. This waterway is considered very important for global oil trade, hence the entire world is keeping an eye on the situation here.
Trump has claimed that the blockade has had a huge impact on Iran's economy. He said that this action will continue until a concrete agreement is reached. The recent incident of stopping an Iranian ship is also being said to be a part of this strategy.
