Islamabad: Peace talks between the US and Iran failed in Islamabad after the two sides failed to reach a permanent agreement following a two-week ceasefire following a 40-day war. After the ceasefire, both countries worked together in Pakistan to try to turn it into a permanent peace, but the talks got stuck on several issues, especially the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
US Vice President JD Vance said after 21 hours of talks that no concrete results emerged from the talks. Vance said that the US had made the best offer to Iran, but Iran did not accept it.
Vance said, "We spelled out our red lines very clearly, and we were able to show which issues we were willing to compromise with Iran on, and which we were not. But Iran refused to accept our terms." Regarding Iran's nuclear program, he also said that "Iran's former nuclear enrichment facilities were destroyed, but the question is whether Iran will not work towards creating nuclear weapons permanently."
Iran's local media, Fars News, reported that the talks did not succeed because the US put forward some conditions that Iran could not accept. The report said that America tried to get all those things which it could not get during the war.
The report also said Iran rejected the US's conditions, especially on the Strait of Hormuz, peaceful nuclear energy and other issues.
Now the future of the two-week ceasefire has become uncertain after the failure of the agreement between America and Iran. This failure has cast a cloud of doubt on the peace process.
Earlier, Donald Trump had warned Iran that if a final deal was not reached, US forces could plan the "biggest ever" attack. Trump also said that America has already won this conflict, no matter the outcome of the talks.
This failed negotiation has proved to be a major setback for both the countries, and the hopes of a peace agreement are also fading. "We had a lot of important discussions, but that's bad news for Iran, because we think it's more damaging to them," Vance said.
Now it remains to be seen whether both the countries are ready for the next round of talks or there will be a danger of the situation worsening further.
In this way, despite the ceasefire in the peace talks between Iran and America, no concrete solution has been found. There are differences between the two sides on nuclear weapons, Strait of Hormuz and other important issues, which are completely thwarting the peace process.
