Jerusalem: As military tensions grow between Washington and Iran, a US Navy destroyer has docked at Israel's Red Sea port city of Eilat on Friday, according to reports. And Tehran has also deployed 1,000 new "strategic drones" across its armed forces.
According to Israel's Ynet news website, the arrival of USS Delbert D. Black at the Eilat port was pre-planned and part of the ongoing cooperation between the Israeli and the US military.
As per the reports, the destroyer arrived at the southern port on the Gulf of Aqaba, near Israel's borders with Egypt and Jordan.
The deployment comes after the remarks made by the US President Donald Trump, regarding the US warships presence in the region and also hints about avoiding military action against Iran.
While talking to reporters at the premiere of a documentary about First Lady Melania on Thursday, Donald Trump said, "I built (up) the military in my first term, and now we have a group headed out to a place called Iran, and hopefully we won't have to use it."
When the reporters asked if he would have talks with Iran, Trump claimed that, "We have a lot of very big, very powerful ships sailing to Iran right now. And it would be great if we didn't have to use them."
Talking about what are his demands, the US President said that he has asked Iran two things, which are "no nuclear" and "stop killing protestors".
"I told them two things; Number one no nuclear. And number two stop killing protesters.... They're going to have to do something," Trump said.
After the Trump's Truth Social post regarding "a massive Armada heading to Iran", the Tehran deployed approximately 1,000 new "strategic drones" across the four branches of its armed forces.
The US President in the Truth Social post said, "A massive Armada is heading to Iran. It is moving quickly, with great power, enthusiasm, and purpose. It is a larger fleet, headed by the great Aircraft Carrier Abraham Lincoln, than that sent to Venezuela. Like with Venezuela, it is ready, willing, and able to rapidly fulfill its mission, with speed and violence, if necessary."
