Caracas: Three after his father was abducted by the US military in a sensational attack on Caracas, Nicolás Maduro Guerra, the son of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has issued an emotional statement.

What did Guerra say?

In an audio message which has been posted on social media platforms, Guerra can be heard warning those responsible for his father’s abduction. Guerra said that Venezuela has been betrayed by some people. He said that the future will expose these faces and deliver justice.

"History will tell who the traitors were, history will reveal it. We will see," Guerra said.

"We are fine, we are calm. You will see us in the streets, alongside these people. They want to see us weak; we are going to raise the banners of dignity. Does it hurt us? Of course it hurts us, of course it makes us angry, but they won't be able to, damn it! I swear to you on my life, on my mother, on Cilia: they won't be able to," he added.

Guerra also demanded that the US return his father. Maduro's son said that he has also called on supporters to participate in public demonstrations so that they can rally around the country’s leadership and strengthen unity.

Guerra termed the US action an external invasion. He said that "political and military coordination" is needed in response to this "external invasion." Maduro Guerra is a lawmaker from La Guaira state and a member of Venezuela's ruling United Socialist Party (PSUV).

Who is Guerra ?

Nicolás Ernesto Maduro Guerra, also known as ‘The Prince’, is mentioned extensively in new US documents detailing his alleged role in Venezuelan drug operations.

US federal prosecutors have identified Guerra as a key figure in a major drug network that allegedly used government assets, military personnel, and political influence to transport cocaine from Venezuela to the United States.

This comes even as Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores continue to be in US custody after being abducted from their residence inside a high-security area of Caracas. Maduro is scheduled to appear in a federal court in the Southern District of New York on Monday, facing US charges of narco-terrorism and drug trafficking conspiracy.

The 35-year-old Guerra was born on June 21, 1990, and is the son of Maduro's first wife, Adriana Guerra Angulo. As a child, he was interested in music and played the flute in Venezuela's renowned El Sistema program from 1998 to 2004, but later turned to politics.

After his father became president in 2013, he held several important positions, such as head of the Special Inspectors Corps of the Presidency and coordinator of the National Film School. During this time, Maduro faced accusations of nepotism.

In 2017, he became a member of the Constituent Assembly, and since 2021, he has been a deputy in the Venezuelan National Assembly. He is an active member of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela. Following the arrest of his father and stepmother, Cilia Flores, by the United States in January 2026, he too has been charged with drug trafficking, narco-terrorism, and weapons-related offenses. US prosecutors claim he was connected to the drug trafficking gang "Cartel de los Soles”.
