International News:  Vice Admiral Li Hanjun, Chief of Staff of the PLA Navy, and Liu Shipeng, Deputy Chief Engineer at the China National Nuclear Corporation, have been officially removed from the National People's Congress. The move, announced Friday, came as part of Xi Jinping’s intensifying military anti-corruption campaign across China. Liu Shipeng, a leading figure in China’s nuclear advancement, is now under scrutiny. Though his work was critical to China’s defense tech, his sudden ousting signals serious internal allegations. Experts believe his ties with financial irregularities in defense contracts may have led to his downfall. The official reason remains classified.

CMC General Miao Hua Dismissed

Another key name, General Miao Hua, has also been removed from the Central Military Commission (CMC). Miao had been under investigation since November last year for “disciplinary violations,” a Chinese euphemism often used for corruption. He was the youngest Admiral and a key ideological figure in the Communist military chain.

Xi Jinping Tightens His Control

Since 2012, President Xi has pushed for ideological purity and loyalty within the PLA. His anti-graft campaign has punished dozens of top generals and two defense ministers. Analysts believe these purges aim not just to fight corruption, but to eliminate internal dissent and reinforce the Communist Party’s military dominance.

Beijing Sends a Clear Message

The sudden removal of three high-profile defense leaders is not just internal housekeeping—it’s political messaging. Xi wants no compromise when it comes to national security. The campaign reflects China’s strategic priority: ensure a corruption-free, loyal, and ideologically aligned military to support its global rise and internal stability.

International Watchdogs on Alert

These expulsions have raised eyebrows globally. With top scientists and defense officials falling one after another, questions are rising about China’s internal defense health. Foreign observers are closely monitoring whether this purge could impact nuclear strategy, naval expansion, or Beijing’s timeline to project military power beyond Asia.

Not Just Corruption—But Power

Experts say the purges also serve another purpose—consolidating Xi’s absolute authority over the military. Beyond cleaning up graft, this is about eliminating potential rivals and dissenters. In China’s high-stakes power chessboard, every fallen officer strengthens Xi’s unchecked control over both the party and the People’s Liberation Army.
