Lifestyle News: A dentist and fitness enthusiast, known as Dr Fit Files on Instagram, has revealed how quitting sugar for six months helped her lose 30 kg. In a post shared on September 2, she showed her transformation from 97 kg to 67 kg and called the change “the most difficult transition” of her life but said it was “definitely worth it.
The clip shows a clear before-and-after shift. Before cutting sugar, she had a double chin, Acanthosis Nigricans (dark, stripy marks on the neck caused by insulin resistance), and pigmentation on her face. After staying off sugar, she was able to get rid of these issues, along with losing weight. On July 16, she also posted another video talking about her struggle with Acanthosis Nigricans. She shared that she did not use any creams to lighten her skin. “Dark neck isn’t just a skin issue — it’s your body trying to tell you something,” she wrote. She explained that Acanthosis Nigricans is a symptom, not the real problem. It is often caused by obesity, insulin resistance, hormonal imbalance, diabetes, or genetics. “In my case, it was obesity + insulin resistance. I didn’t use a cream. I quit sugar, followed a low-carb, high-protein diet, and lost weight,” she said.
She added that once she changed her lifestyle, the darkness on her skin faded on its own. “No cream can fix this unless you fix the root cause. If you’re not overweight, consult a doctor and get tested. Your skin reflects your inner health, don’t ignore the signs,” she wrote. In an interview with HT Lifestyle on July 26, Bhavika Patel, a certified nutritionist and lifestyle coach, explained the benefits of quitting sugar even for 14 days. She said it can bring more energy, better focus, and fewer cravings.
