New Delhi: Be it puja at home or offering to God on any special occasion, Batasha is definitely kept as Prasad. White and puffed Batashas are as good to look at as they are equally delicious to eat. Usually people buy them from the market, but if you want, you can easily prepare them at home also. The special thing is that for this you will not need much material or any special machine. Fresh batasha can be made at home with just sugar, water and a little baking soda.
It is quite easy to make batasha at home. For this you will need one cup of sugar, half a cup of water and two pinches of baking soda. Apart from this, take some ghee to grease the plate in which Batasha will be made.
Ingredients:
First of all take a big and clean plate. Apply a little ghee on it and smooth it. Keep in mind that there is no need to apply a very thick layer of ghee. Use only light greasing so that the prepared batasha can be easily removed from the plate.
Now add 1 cup sugar and half a cup of water in a pan. Cook it on medium flame and keep stirring it continuously. Keep stirring the mixture until the sugar dissolves completely. After the sugar dissolves, increase the flame and let the syrup cook. When the syrup starts thickening a little, immediately reduce the flame.
Add two pinches of baking soda in the syrup. As soon as you add it, the mixture will start rising rapidly, so mix it well without any delay. When the mixture swells well, turn off the gas.
Now without any delay, drop the prepared mixture little by little in the greased plate. As soon as the drops of the mixture fall on the plate, they will gradually start taking the shape of round balls. The most important thing here is that do not let the mixture cool for too long, otherwise it may become difficult to shape.
After putting all the batashas in the plate, let them cool completely. When they cool down, slowly take them out from the plate. In this way, white, light and fluffy batasha will be prepared at home, which can be used as prasad in puja.
