Inside Thalapathy Vijay's Rs 600 Crore Empire as His Party TVK Makes a Powerful Political Debutc

New Delhi: In Tamil Nadu, superstar Thalapathy Vijay, who has transitioned from film industry to politics, is doing exceptionally well. Vijay-led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) is leading in 109 seats in the state, maintaining a lead over the AIDMK (73 seats) and DMK (48 seats).

Following these trends in Tamil Nadu, the security was increased for South star Vijay. After retiring from acting in 2024, Vijay entered the electoral fray in 2026 and has been impressive here as well. 

Regarding his assets, Vijay disclosed his net worth in his election affidavit, stating that his assets exceed Rs 600 crore.

From where is Vijay contesting?

Thalapathy Vijay, whose full name is  Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar, was contesting from two constituencies, Tiruchirappalli East and Perambur in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. 

According to the election results, the superstar is leading in both constituencies. The actor-turned-politician appears to be enjoying the full support of the region's public, with not only Vijay but his entire party leading in 109 seats across the state.

What is Vijay's net worth?

Vijay, who owns assets worth over Rs 600 crore (approximately $1.6 billion), stated in his affidavit to the Election Commission that his total net worth was Rs 603.20 crore. 

This includes deposits of over Rs 213 crore (approximately $1.2 billion) in various bank accounts. The actor-politician's affidavit indicates that his movable assets are worth Rs 404.58 crore (approximately $1.98 billion), while Vijay owns immovable assets worth Rs 198.62 crore (approximately $1.98 billion).

His wealth consists largely of his earnings from films, and he also earns substantial sums from brand endorsements, real estate investments, and other investments.

What about his wife?

According to PTI report, citing Vijay's election affidavit, his wife, Sangeeta, declared separate assets worth Rs 15.76 crore (approximately $1.576 million), including movable assets worth Rs 15.51 crore (approximately $1.51 million) and immovable assets worth Rs 2.5 million (approximately $2.5 million). Despite this wealth, she stated that she has no liabilities.

What about other assets?

Vijay had declared 883 grams of gold in his affidavit. He also stated that he had 883 grams of gold jewellery and silver jewellery worth Rs 15 lakh. 

Thalapathy Vijay is also known to be a fan of luxury cars. His car collection includes expensive cars like the BMW 530, Toyota Lexus, Toyota Vellfire, and BMW i7.

Thalapathy Vijay is among the actors with the highest income tax returns. He reported a total income of Rs 184.53 crore in his income tax return for the financial year 2024-25. Regarding Thalapathy Vijay's immovable assets, he owns several commercial and residential properties in Chennai and other locations. His immovable assets also include agricultural land worth crores in Kodaikanal.
