Beyond just digestion, consuming incorrect food combinations can also trigger problems related to skin health, gas, and acidity. To avoid these issues, it is essential for everyone to be aware of the specific food combinations that can lead to health complications—such as the following:
Consuming a mixture of cream, milk, and salt can be harmful. While doing so once or twice typically causes no ill effects, if your regular diet includes dishes prepared with heavy cream and salt—such as white sauce pasta—it may contribute to the development of skin ailments.
One should strictly avoid consuming any type of citrus fruit—such as grapes, oranges, kiwis, or pineapples—either alongside or immediately after drinking milk. These combinations severely impair digestion, often leading to issues such as gas, acidity, and abdominal pain.
Similarly, individuals who consume fish should strictly refrain from eating yogurt-based products—such as *raita*, *lassi*, or buttermilk—either alongside or immediately after their meal. Inadvertently consuming yogurt after or with fish can trigger stomach pain, adverse reactions, and excessive gas formation.
According to Ayurveda, bitter gourd and milk possess distinct and incompatible natures. Consuming these two items together—or drinking milk immediately after eating bitter gourd—can disrupt the digestive process. Therefore, one should strictly avoid combining milk and bitter gourd in their diet.
Eggs are extremely rich in protein, and digesting them alone requires a significant amount of time and effort from the body. When you eat a banana, you are consuming a food rich in fiber, which requires a significant amount of time to digest. Consuming these two items together creates digestive difficulties. If you are eating watermelon, strictly avoid drinking water either alongside it or immediately after. Drinking water after consuming watermelon slows down the digestive process, which can lead to stomach upset.
If you have consumed raw onions—for instance, as part of a salad—do not eat jaggery immediately afterward. Onions are rich in antioxidants and Vitamin C, while jaggery is a good source of iron and minerals. However, consuming these two items together can result in digestive complications.
