National News: On 15 August 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the national flag at the Red Fort in New Delhi and addressed the nation for the 12th consecutive time. This year’s theme was “New India,” and the celebrations also honored the success of Operation Sindoor, India’s strong military response to the Pahalgam terror attack earlier this year. Senior officers who played a major role in the operation were recognized on the eve of Independence Day.
PM Modi announced that India will launch the Sudarshan Chakra Mission, a powerful weapon system designed not only to block enemy attacks but also to strike back with greater force. The goal is to cover all key locations in the country under this security shield by 2035.
He expressed concern over changes in population patterns in border areas and the growing issue of infiltration. To protect local communities, especially tribal regions, the government will launch a High-Power Demography Mission.
Marking the 100th anniversary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the prime minister praised its contribution to service, discipline, and national welfare, calling it the world’s largest NGO.
Modi said the government must be present in people’s lives, not just in official files. He highlighted schemes like PM Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana and Ayushman Bharat, which are helping farmers, improving access to quality seeds and irrigation, and providing health security to millions.
He promised a “double Diwali” for citizens this year, with a major GST reform that will significantly lower tax rates and reduce the burden on ordinary people.
A new plan, the Prime Minister’s Developed India Employment Scheme, will provide ₹15,000 to those securing their first job in the private sector. The initiative is backed by a budget of ₹1 lakh crore.
The PM urged young scientists and engineers to develop Made-in-India jet engines for fighter aircraft. He said 10 new nuclear reactors are under construction and that Indian-made semiconductor chips will enter the market by the end of this year.
Referring to Operation Sindoor, Modi warned that India will no longer tolerate nuclear threats and repeated the commitment that “blood and water will not flow together,” vowing to stop the flow of Indian river water to Pakistan.
Looking ahead, he said India is building a modern ecosystem to become a fully developed nation by 2047. He called for support of electric vehicles and the Vocal for Local campaign to reduce production costs and strengthen self-reliance.
More than 11,000 security personnel and 3,000 traffic police officers were deployed around the Red Fort. Eighty-five village heads from across India attended the event as special guests in recognition of their role in rural development.
