The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) recorded 229.33 crore Aadhaar authentication transactions in June 2025, marking a significant jump compared to both the previous month and June last year. This reflects the growing reliance on Aadhaar for a variety of services, and its strong role in India's expanding digital economy, the Ministry of Electronics and IT said.
The volume of transactions in June shows a 7.8% increase over the same month in 2024. Since the introduction of Aadhaar, the total number of authentication transactions has crossed a massive 15,452 crore. This growth clearly shows Aadhaar’s rising importance in service delivery and welfare schemes across the country. Aadhaar-based authentication continues to simplify access to services, offering a convenient and secure method for citizens to verify their identity.
UIDAI’s AI and ML-based face authentication technology, developed in-house, has also seen rapid growth. In June 2025 alone, 15.87 crore face authentication transactions were completed—more than three times the 4.61 crore recorded in June 2024.
In total, around 175 crore face-based authentications have been completed so far. This face authentication feature works smoothly on both Android and iOS devices and allows users to confirm their identity with a simple face scan while maintaining high security standards.
Over 100 organizations, including central and state departments, banks, oil companies, and telecom providers, now use face authentication to deliver services more efficiently.
In the same month, more than 39.47 crore e-KYC transactions were completed using Aadhaar. The Aadhaar e-KYC service has made customer onboarding faster and smoother in sectors like banking and financial services, helping businesses comply with regulations while improving user experience.
