An Akasa Air aircraft was hit by a cargo truck at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on Monday, leading to an inspection of the plane and an investigation into the incident.

Incident Involved Third-Party Ground Handler

The airline confirmed that the truck was being operated by a third-party ground handling service when it accidentally hit the stationary aircraft. The aircraft was not in motion and was parked at the airport when the incident took place.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Akasa Air said, “A third-party ground handler, while driving a cargo truck, made contact with one of our parked aircraft at the Mumbai airport. We have begun a complete inspection of the aircraft and are working closely with the ground handler to understand what happened.”

Aircraft Undergoing Inspection

As a precautionary step, the affected aircraft has been taken out of service for a detailed technical examination. The extent of the damage is not fully known at this point, but the airline has ensured that all safety procedures are being followed.

An image from the scene shows that one of the plane’s wings tore into the cargo truck slightly, raising concerns about possible structural impact. However, no passengers were on board at the time, and there were no reports of injury.

Investigation in Progress

Akasa Air stated that it is taking the matter seriously and is collaborating with all concerned parties to determine how the incident occurred. The airline also emphasized its commitment to safety and assured that further actions will be taken once the inspection and investigation are completed.

This incident has not impacted the airline’s flight schedule significantly, but the airline will share further updates once more details are available.
