New Delhi: As the Delhi-NCR AQI has deteriorated to severe, Yoga Guru Ramdev has given some serious suggestions. He has suggested that some exercise and curtain use as the way to fight air pollution. Meanwhile, he called the use of air purifiers as “ameeron ka chonchla” — ‘a fad of the rich’.
During an interview with TV channel, Aaj Tak, when the interviewer asked him how one can exercise outdoors as the pollution level is so high. Replying to the same, Ramdev said, “Look, when a country is progressing, naturally some dust will fly.”
When he was further stressed to answer about the Delhi-NCR's air pollution condition, Ramdev said, “Yes, Delhi sometimes becomes like a gas chamber. Then, you people should put up curtains in your homes.” He added, “Put some curtains in the house, dust them off a little after 15-20 days while wearing a mask.”
Further stressing on exercise, he said “Sit inside and do (breathing exercises). Take long, long breaths, do Kapalbhati.” When asked to answer about the air purifiers, he said that is simply 'ameeron ka chonchla' just a fad of the rich, or extravagance, for rich people.
It is to be noted here that Delhi, Noida and the NCR AQI was recorded to be severe and the government had to impose Stage 4 measures of the Grade Response Action Plan (GRAP).
On Sunday, the AQI of Delhi, NCR and near by areas was close to 500. Here in the video below, a thick layer of toxic smog blankets can be seen near AIIMS as CAQM (Commission for Air Quality Management) has invoked all actions under GRAP Stage-IV in Delhi-NCR. AQI (Air Quality Index) around the area is 484, categorised as 'Severe', as claimed by CPCB (Central Pollution Control Board).
