New Delhi: Eight workers died and several others were injured following a massive leak of molten steel at the SMS-2 and STC-3 heat facilities of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant in Andhra Pradesh.
According to Keshav Rao, Circle Inspector at the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, the incident occurred when a ladle carrying molten steel at extremely high temperatures ruptured. Chaos ensued at the plant, with workers scrambling to save their lives. Plant personnel have reached the site and are attempting to bring the situation under control.

State Home Minister Vangalapudi Anita responded to the accident at the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. She spoke over the phone with the Visakhapatnam District Collector and the City Police Commissioner to gather details regarding the incident.
Home Minister leaves for the accident site
The Minister directed officials to ensure the best possible medical treatment for the injured and to expedite rescue and relief operations at the site. Upon receiving news of the incident, the Home Minister immediately departed for the location.
