New Delhi: Amidst the increasing security tension in Saudi Arabia, India has advised its citizens living there to remain alert. The Indian Mission has clarified that do not make videos of actions to stop missiles and drones, their debris or places affected by attacks, nor share pictures or information related to them on social media. Indian citizens have been asked to strictly follow the local laws and security-related rules of Saudi Arabia. This advisory has been issued at a time when the situation remains sensitive due to attacks and security concerns in the region.

Why was there a warning on making videos or sharing information?

The Indian Mission, while sharing the official notification of the Saudi Civil Defence Directorate, has cautioned citizens that recording or broadcasting material related to missiles, drones, their interception and locations affected by them may lead to legal action. Therefore, Indian citizens have been advised to stay away from such activities. The Indian Consulate in Jeddah has also issued a similar advisory. The message from officials is that sharing sensitive security-related information should be avoided without permission.

What is the reason for increasing tension in Saudi Arabia?

This advisory has been issued after recent drone and missile attacks by Yemen's Houthi group. According to available information, the attacks targeted Saudi Arabia's civilian infrastructure. Due to this development, concerns regarding regional security have increased. In such a situation, officials have advised citizens to follow safety instructions and not share photos or videos of any sensitive incident on the internet.

What has been the impact on the flights of Indian passengers?

Some flight services of Air India and Air India Express have been temporarily suspended amid the prevailing security situation in the region. According to the information given, flights to Riyadh and Dammam will remain suspended till 7 November 2026, while services to and from Jeddah will remain closed till 31 October 2026. Passengers affected by these changes need to confirm flight status with their airline prior to travel. It would be useful to keep an eye on the official notifications of the airlines and the respective Indian missions for information regarding resumption of flights.

What arrangements have been made to help the affected Indians?

According to the Indian Consulate in Jeddah, 24-hour control rooms are active in Jeddah and Mecca. Through these centres, assistance is being provided to the needy people with the help of local Indian community organisations and volunteers. This includes food, essential medicines and other immediate needs. Efforts are being made to provide help as per the needs of Indian citizens whose travel has been affected or who need any kind of assistance.

What is happening to resolve visa and travel issues?

The Indian Mission has said that it is in constant touch with the Ministry of Haj and Umrah and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia. Its objective is to find solutions to the problems arising due to cancellation or delay of flights. Particular attention is being given to the cases of Indians affected by visa validity and travel delays. Indian citizens have been advised to check the validity of their travel documents and contact the relevant official support centre in case of any issue.

The Indian mission has reiterated that it is monitoring the situation. Indian citizens present in Saudi Arabia have been appealed to follow local rules, take safety instructions seriously and avoid sharing content related to sensitive incidents on social media.
