New Delhi: Former Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president K Annamalai submitted his resignation from the party on Tuesday to BJP national president Nitin Nabin and national general secretary BL Santhosh, after a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the national capital.

What is the reason of resignation?

K Annamalai, according to sources, on Tuesday submitted a five-page resignation letter to BJP national president Nitin Nabin and met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi.

According to sources, Annamalai during the meeting told the party leaders that he wants to forge his own path and that he intends to part ways on good terms 

Will Annamalai form new party?

According to reports, Annamalai is planning to launch a new regional political party, which his associates are describing as 'secular' and 'Tamil-first' oriented.

According to sources, the proposed party could be launched within six to eight months and will try to establish itself as an alternative to both the BJP and the Dravidian parties in Tamil Nadu.

Did Annamalai meet Nitin Nabin?

As per sources, Annamalai met BJP national secretary BL Santhosh and BJP president Nitin Nabin on Tuesday. The development come amid intense speculation over his political future following weeks of rumours about a possible new formation.

Posters, bearing slogans like "Our leader, come and lead us," were put up on major roads and public places ahead of Annamalai's birthday on June 4.

Did Annamalai accept offer?

According to sources, Annamalai has refused to accept any position offered by the BJP, including potential central responsibilities or a Rajya Sabha berth. He has also declined on joining any existing political party in Tamil Nadu, including Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), and is instead preparing to launch an independent political outfit.

Although Annamalai has not publicly addressed the development, the reported move could mark a significant shift in Tamil Nadu's political landscape ahead of the next electoral cycle.
