New Delhi: In a latest update, the self-proclaimed godman, Asaram has been granted 6-months interim bail on the medical grounds by Rajasthan High Court today.
It is worthy to be mentioned here that the Rajasthan High Court on Wednesday, granted six months’ interim bail to Asaram on the medical grounds. Notably, Asaram is currently in the Jodhpur Central Jail and serving a life sentence.
Asaram's case was being heard by the Division Bench of Acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma. He was accused allegedly in a rape case. It is to be mentioned here that Asaram is undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
Asaram was sent to jail in August 2013. He was sent to jail on the charges of alleged rape of a school girl and was arrested after the 16-year-old girl, filed a case with the police. Notably, the parents of the girl were devotees of Asaram.
Notably, in the case, along with Asaram, his son Narayan Sai were booked in the case. Reportedly, Narayan Sai was booked two months later in the charge of allegedly raping two sisters at their ashram in Surat, Gujarat.
Asaram was granted interim bail earlier in January by the Supreme Court on medical gounds.
It is to be mentioned here that Asaram is in jail as he was sentenced a life term after he was convicted in a rape case. Notably, Asaram has filed a lot of bail application in these years but most of his bails were rejected by different courts. His bail applications were rejected on the grounds of the nature of the offense.
In the Asaram's case, the court reviewed the plea as well as the medical condition. The Acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma reviewed the plea which stated his health status. The Rajasthan High court, after evaluating his medical application, decided to grant him the interim bail for the duration of six months.
