Tinsukia: The situation suddenly worsened in the early hours of Sunday in Tinsukia district of Assam. There were loud explosions amid the silence late at night and within a short time it became clear that the police commando camp had been targeted. Four soldiers have been injured in the attack. After the incident, there was commotion in the entire area and security agencies became active.
Around two o'clock people heard the sound of the explosion. Initially I could not understand, but after some time the sound of firing also started coming. Later it was found that the camp was attacked with an RPG.
The only information available is that the attack was carried out suddenly. Everything happened within a few minutes and the attackers went back. They got the advantage of the geographical location and darkness of the area.
This area of Jagun falls close to the border. There have been reports of militant activities here in the past also. Therefore, security forces are deployed here, but despite this, an attack increases the concern.
All four were immediately sent to the hospital. He is undergoing treatment under the supervision of doctors. One jawan has been seriously injured, although not much information has been shared officially.
Agencies are looking at the possibility of ULFA (I) being behind this attack. However, no one has taken responsibility yet, hence the investigation has been kept open.
Immediately after the attack, firing also took place from the camp. But by then the attackers had left. After this, a search operation was started in the surrounding areas.
Additional security forces have been deployed in the area. Every visitor is being monitored. Police and security agencies are continuously patrolling.
This attack is an indication that the threat in the area has not completely ended. Security agencies are not taking this lightly and work on further strategy has been started.
