With significant majority in the assembly, BJP held its legislative party meeting on Wednesday. Members unanimously chose Samrat Choudhary as leader and Vijay Sinha as deputy leader. Party insiders said changing deputy CMs at this stage risked internal unrest. Their reappointment strengthens the possibility of retaining both posts in the upcoming cabinet. Senior leaders believe maintaining continuity will help in smooth coordination with the new government.
Ahead of government formation, JD(U) named Nitish Kumar as its legislative party leader. He is expected to take oath as Chief Minister again. BJP’s decision indicates full support for Nitish-led administration. Sources suggest both parties want stability after forming government. Leaders agreed that retaining experienced deputy ministers improves decision execution and reduces political friction.
Samrat Choudhary, from an extremely backward community, has seen rapid growth in the party over recent years. He is often seen as a major pillar of BJP’s OBC outreach. Party workers believe his leadership style and ability to connect with grassroots voters brought credibility. Analysts say BJP wants to project social balance by continuing his role. He thanked party leadership and promised dedication to the people.
Vijay Sinha also expressed gratitude towards central and state leaders. He stated that being trusted again is a matter of honour. His track record during previous tenure was appreciated by legislators. He is known for his administrative discipline. Leaders say his presence alongside Samrat ensures balanced decision-making. The move reflects BJP’s strategy of combining organisational strength and governance experience.
The NDA meeting is scheduled for this evening at 3:30 PM. Final endorsement of Nitish Kumar as alliance leader will be confirmed there. After that, the cabinet structure will be formalised. Speculation suggests two deputy CMs and up to 20 ministers may take oath. Sources reveal the process is being treated as high priority and will conclude swiftly.
The swearing-in event will take place at Gandhi Maidan in Patna on 20 November. The ceremony is planned as a major national-level gathering. PM Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, JP Nadda, Yogi Adityanath, Pushkar Singh Dhami and several other CMs are likely to attend. Invitations have also been issued to award-winning dignitaries, scientists and authors. More than one lakh people may witness the ceremony.
Political observers say repeating both deputies shows BJP’s intent to keep strong control within the coalition. It also reflects trust in previous performance. Analysts expect limited experimentation in cabinet allocation. The move sets the tone for a continuity-focused approach as governance begins. Leaders believe stable coordination will help the government deliver faster results.
