National News: In Bihar, the BJP and JDU have started finalizing their seat-sharing plan for the Assembly elections. Talks between the two parties have been intense but practical. Both sides understand the importance of staying united. The NDA wants to avoid confusion that could harm its campaign. Sources say both BJP and JDU may contest around 105 to 107 seats each. The idea is to ensure balance between the two largest partners. Smaller allies will be adjusted later.
Smaller NDA allies had hoped for a bigger role this time. Leaders like Chirag Paswan, Jitan Ram Manjhi, and Upendra Kushwaha were eyeing more seats. They wanted to be seen as kingmakers. But the BJP and JDU have made it clear that strength on the ground will decide the share. This means smaller parties will not get what they demanded. Their influence in the alliance is expected to remain limited. This has created frustration among some leaders.
Both BJP and JDU know the risks of internal fights. That is why they are moving carefully with discussions. The two parties want to send a message of unity. Any delay or confusion in seat sharing could give the opposition an advantage. Leaders say that both parties will compromise to keep the alliance stable. The target is to build a clear majority in the Assembly. A smooth division of seats is seen as key to success.
The NDA leadership has one main objective—securing a stable government in Bihar. For this, they want to avoid experiments with seat distribution. Giving too many seats to small allies could upset calculations. BJP and JDU believe that only realistic sharing will prevent clashes. They want to present themselves as the stronger and more reliable option. Leaders are confident that voters will prefer stability over uncertainty. The strategy focuses on winning big and governing firmly.
Chirag Paswan of LJP (Ram Vilas) has demanded a fair number of seats. He argues that his party has strong support among Dalit voters. Jitan Ram Manjhi also wants recognition for his long political career. Upendra Kushwaha has pushed for a larger role too. However, their demands are not likely to be accepted fully. NDA leaders privately admit that these allies depend on BJP and JDU’s larger base. They cannot dictate terms in the alliance.
The opposition parties in Bihar are closely observing these NDA talks. RJD and Congress hope to benefit from any rift. They are preparing their own seat-sharing strategy. Leaders from the opposition say that NDA allies are being sidelined. They believe this could push some smaller parties closer to them. However, NDA insiders deny such chances. They insist that differences will be resolved before the election campaign begins. The BJP-JDU bond is seen as unbreakable.
Although a broad understanding has been reached, the final list of seats is yet to be announced. Negotiations will continue over the coming weeks. Senior leaders of BJP and JDU are expected to meet again soon. Smaller parties will also be called to finalize their share. NDA leaders say that only numbers on the ground will decide seats. For now, the message is clear-BJP and JDU remain the core of the alliance. The rest will have to adjust.
